About Maria’s Classes

If you hold yourself up, eventually you’ll have to let yourself down and let go of the tension you’ve been carrying around for a lifetime. Forget for a while about alignment and what the posture or movement looks like from the outside. What does it feel like on the inside? Where am I holding my tension? Can I connect through the spine to the whole body? How is my breath? Does my body enjoy the movement?

There will be variety in the classes, as Maria’s own practice leads her to a new area of curiosity. We will take time to undo tension and create space. Functional movement patterns will form the basis for a safe yoga practice. We learn to become relaxed into strength and our deeper muscles, intrinsic to the spine, become stronger.
