About Maria

Maria’s first experience of yoga was in a pregnancy class in Yorkshire over 28 years ago.   It was a recovery from the effects of stress and anxiety: a transformation through gentle, but demanding yoga which made her curious about sharing the practice.  To begin with she aimed to make the picture perfect poses, but she slowly realised that yoga isn’t about performing the poses ‘perfectly’, but instead about the felt sense of the experience in her body and mind in the moment.  In 2009 she began the Foundation Course with Jenny Beeken and The Inner Yoga Trust, a three year 500 hour+ teacher diploma accredited by The British Wheel of Yoga.

Maria is an experienced teacher. She has been teaching classes for more than 10 years to adults and young people in village halls, studios, schools, workplaces and private homes in Hampshire, Surrey and in Düsseldorf, Germany. She works on a 1:1 basis with private clients, including when things go wrong in the body and in the emotions. She has worked with people with a range of debilitating conditions, including depression, cancer, after surgery and severe, life-changing injury.

Maria maintains a regular personal practice and works with leading practitioners and anatomy teachers interested in the Scaravelli Inspired approach.
